About Dr. Slowey
Hi! I’m Dan Slowey. I’m a board-certified family medicine physician who took a non-traditional path to this work, including a few years working as a corporate lawyer. I went to medical school in Pittsburgh, completed my residency training at OHSU, and am here in Portland for good. I’m certified to practice medicine in Spanish as well as English.
Madrona Family Medicine arose out of the desire to find a better way to provide primary care.
I want you to feel like a human being, not a number. I want you to feel like an equal participant in your care, not a passenger. I want our interactions to feel collaborative and connecting, and I want your care to be accessible when you need it.
Above all, I want to you to feel truly supported in living your healthiest and best life, and I want to be able to do this work in a way that lets us focus on what really matters -- human relationship and mutual care.
Outside of work, I love hiking and backpacking with my wife and 3-year-old, gardening, riding my bike all around town, cheering for the Portland Thorns, and crossword puzzles. I’m excited to get to know you as a complete person, too!
